Abbey Clerke Illustration
About Me
Hi! I’m Abbey. I’m a creative freelancer specialising in illustration, murals and graphic design.
I took my first art commission in 2020, and have been working in the creative field since then.
I studied an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design at RMIT University from 2021-2022.
I’ve loved drawing and creating for as long as I can remember, but didn’t consider a career in art until I was 15, when I studied the life and work of Ludwig Bemelmens (Author and Illustrator of the ‘Madeline’ books) and became interested in creating children’s books. Since then, I’ve been pursuing a career in art and design, some highlights of my practice so far have been:
Selection into the National Gallery of Australia’s ‘Summer Art Scholarship’. (2020)
Exhibition of illustration work in Top Designs at Melbourne Museum (2021)
Exhibition of photographic and sculptural work in the VCE creative Showcase at Burrinja Cultural Centre (2021)
‘Best Illustration’ award in ‘Kaleidoscope’ - RMIT grad show (2022)
Publication of my first Children’s Picture Book ‘How to Catch a Tiger’ (2023)
