Abbey Clerke Illustration

About Me

Hi! I’m Abbey. I’m a creative freelancer specialising in illustration, murals and graphic design.
I took my first art commission in 2020, and have been working in the creative field since then.
I studied an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design at RMIT University from 2021-2022.

I’ve loved drawing and creating for as long as I can remember, but didn’t consider a career in art until I was 15, when I studied the life and work of Ludwig Bemelmens (Author and Illustrator of the ‘Madeline’ books) and became interested in creating children’s books. Since then, I’ve been pursuing a career in art and design, some highlights of my practice so far have been:

  • Selection into the National Gallery of Australia’s ‘Summer Art Scholarship’. (2020)

  • Exhibition of illustration work in Top Designs at Melbourne Museum (2021)

  • Exhibition of photographic and sculptural work in the VCE creative Showcase at Burrinja Cultural Centre (2021)

  • ‘Best Illustration’ award in ‘Kaleidoscope’ - RMIT grad show (2022)

  • Publication of my first Children’s Picture Book ‘How to Catch a Tiger’ (2023)
